Horny Garlic Commercial Sends South Korean Town Into A Fury By Dishonoring Garlic In A Tasteless Manner
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — A rural South Korean town is getting roasted over its video ad on garlic that some farmers say stinks of obscenity and has even sexually objectified the agricultural product.
The controversy surrounds a 30-second video that had been posted on a YouTube channel for Hongseong County, a small central-west South Korean town of about 100,000 people known for its local “Hongsan” garlic, for about two years.
The video shows a woman touching the thigh of a man named “Hongsan” with a full garlic head mask and saying words like “very thick” and “hard” to apparently describe the quality of the local garlic. It’s also a parody of a famous scene from a 2004 hit Korean movie titled “Once Upon a Time in High School.”
The spicy ad, which reportedly generated about 190,000 views, had been largely kept underground, but began to take root in the larger public when it was aired on electronic billboards at a Seoul express bus terminal and a downtown street in the central city of Daejeon last month ahead of the garlic’s release.
I gotta be honest. I dont know what all the fuss is over. I watched that video over and over and didn't see anything too sexual. Hell, that's been an issue with garlic commercials for years. For some reason, ad executives in the Garlic Industry have shied away from the overtly sexual nature of garlic. (For example the phrase “you can garlic my taint”) In ancient times, people would pull fresh bulbs of garlic from the ground, roast them in a clay pot (earthenware), and take the bulbs out when they were ready to be smashed and smeared on things like toast and whatnot. Sometimes, they would spread this garlic on their intimate bits and taste each other and the garlic together. The perfect pairing people would say. Freaky right? Not my glass of coffee but whomst am I to judge?
In all honesty, I thought the commercial was nice and it worked as it was intended. They did nothing wrong by describing the garlic as thick and hard. THAT'S EXACTLY THE WAY I WANT MY GARLIC. But besides that, here we are, not in a South Korean Garlic Town, and talking about the garlic from one South Korean town. I'm not a sales or marketing genius but, to me and my simple brain, it seems like
To avoid garlic cancel culture, I will be doing the opposite. I will no longer accept garlic that isn't Hongsan. It's as simple as that. Im a Hongsan guy. Reverse canceling. Dont even think about giving me toast with something other than Hongsan garlic spread on it. AND I want the next garlic commercial to be so horny that I fucking cum. This was good but I did not cum. I did not cum. I want to cum!
